This year, for the first year, Canada will be among our Isola Mondo. The 1st of July, we will be celebrating Canada Day with the screening of canadian movie Anthropocene, L’Epoca Umana. L’Isola del Cinema has always been aware of environmental issues, and for this reason we decided to screen this film to open our Isola Mondo selection. Anthropocene is the last of a trilogy – including Manufactured Landscapes and Watermarks – dedicated to the human activities on our planet. Two more films are included in our programme: The Fall of the American Empire, Denys Arcand’s last work, author of the Barbarian Invasions who comes back using cinema as a mean to think about our present times by using sarcasm and criticism. In the end, J’ai tué ma mére, Xavier Dolan debout film, a project that embodied its poetic soul and its authorial strengths. Air Canada will be our Official Sponsor for this year Isola Mondo selection.
